A night-vision device is an optoelectronic device that allows images be produced in the environment approaching total darkness by collecting the tiny amount of light, including the lower portion of the infrared light spectrum, and converting it to the visible light. It is usually a complete unit, including an image intensifier tube, a protective water-resistant housing, some type of mounting system, and IR illuminator.
